I used to think I could do everything myself. There's no need to hire editors, designers, and publicists, I'd say. Waste of money, I'd say. But that was before I understood the overwhelming amount of work it takes to write and self-publish a book. I soon realized that no matter how smart I thought I was, I couldn't go it alone...

If you've been following my blog, you know that last December I quit my job to be a writer. Then soon afterwards, I decided to self-publish my first book. In order to do this, I started an indie publishing company, which meant I had to choose a meaningful company name, and design a logo as a statement of what the company was all about.

My profile just got added to the member site on the Independent Book Publishers Association website, ya!

Last week, I signed up for an Editing 101 course at Simon Fraser University (BC). It was a desperate attempt to try and stop the madness of this endless book editing that now consumes me...

It's Friday, finally, and many of you probably share my sentiment that it's been a long week. Especially if you live in Canada where we ceremoniously celebrated the first day of spring, while Mother Nature dumped a shitload of snow on us all week.

I write my book on the computer and my business plans on the wall...

Sometimes you have to re-evaluate where your main character lives...even if it means putting her in a trailer park.

When I write down a new story idea, it starts off pretty basic...

These are my writing boots...they give me wings...well, not really, but I do feel awesome wearing them at my desk.

This week's writing epiphany: It's time to get more down and dirty with the love scenes...
